ICYMI: The White House Hosts a #NationOfMakers

White House Maker FaireIf there was ever any doubt that the “maker movement” has taken hold, look no further than that the White House – the very seat of power in the free world – was the latest to host a Maker Faire.

Exhibits at the event featured a 17-foot tall robotic giraffe, a 3D pancake printer, laser cutters, desktop machine tools, and lots of other great things brought people who love to “make stuff.”

President Obama released a statement yesterday about the National Day of Making, praising the tradition of American innovation and technological breakthroughs and stating the Administration’s intent to create an environment that inspires creation and forward-thinking ideas:

“Together, let us unleash the imagination of our people, affirm that we are a Nation of makers, and ensure that the next great technological revolution happens right here in America.”

Check out a great post on the White House blog, including video, tweets and more that recap why it’s great to be a #NationOfMakers!
