Happy MFG Day 2014! As one of AMT’s top advocacy priorities is to grow a next-generation smartforce, we could not be happier to see manufacturers opening their doors to students and showing them the great possibilities offered by careers in manufacturing. Even President Obama declared it National Manufacturing Day, and the White House Blog posted a great chart showing the strengthening position of the industry.
It would be almost impossible to mention all the great MFG Day events taking place today … so we’ll hit a few of the highlights:
- Industry Week has a full gamut of coverage – my favorite being this Faces of Manufacturing piece talking about people who have a passion for the industry.
- Former Gov. Roy Blunt (R-Mo.) wrote a post on The Hill’s Congress Blog about recognizing the Big Three automakers, as well as the rest of the manufacturing industry.
- Rep. Steny Hoyer (D-Md.) also weighed in on the Huffington Post about the need for Congress to commit itself to a strong manufacturing sector.
- BizTech wrote about the need for manufacturing’s workforce to develop high-tech skills.
