Going into CES 2015, we noted one of the trends we were excited to see in action was the much buzzed about self driving car. Once just a concept, there are now a number of manufacturers, including Tesla, Ford, GM, Audi, and of course, Google, with autonomous cars. These companies alone can boast a combined market cap of $700 billion, give or take a few hundred million.
Meanwhile, a redheaded 29-year-old in San Francisco is leading the revolution for a safe, fully functioning self driving car. With just 10 employees, Kyle Vogt is taking on the tech giant and other automotive monsters, using his own Audi A4 as the model. “Now is the perfect time to take a shot at autonomous cars, and Google has just made it easier for us,” says Vogt. “In three years, you won’t even bother buying a car unless it comes with Cruise.”
