CityMakers Summit

On January 20, The Atlantic hosted the City Makers Summit at the Newseum’s Knight Broadcast Center in Washington, DC. The event featured the mayors of Atlanta, Minneapolis, and Dayton, as well as business and nonprofit leaders who are focused on improving job training and employment opportunities – particularly for disadvantaged populations. One session featured Nan Whaley, mayor of Dayton, and Tanya Menendez, co-founder of Maker’s Row, with Whaley talking about the city’s initiatives to attract and promote manufacturing, and Menendez talked about the mission of Maker’s Row to match factories with people who have a concept for something they’d like to manufacture. Watch a video of their discussion here.
