How did you become interested in your field? I always knew I was interested in math, and have always been excited by new technology and the numbers and logic that drives it. I took an intro computer science course on a whim my freshman year, and was hooked!
Are there any STEM developments you are especially excited to see play a part innovating you field? The new “augmented reality” devices – Google Glass, Microsoft HoloLens – are truly innovative pieces of technology. Rather than all of our information being stored on a personal computer, our calendars, emails, and messages can exist in the world around us. We can interact with them as if they didn’t just exist inside of a computer.
Any advice for students considering studying / working in your field? Find a topic that really interests you, learn as much as you can about it, and try to build it! The most fun comes from learning how to do something that you previously didn’t think possible, and there are way more than enough resources online to get you started!
