Manufacturing Technology Orders Grew, but Don’t Call It a Comeback

The latest U.S. Manufacturing Technology Orders report (USMTO) showed that orders grew in value in November 2015, but overall units ordered dropped. Companies were buying more expensive equipment, but less of it overall. Typically this means that they are investing in automation and other equipment that will help them improve their productivity while keeping costs down – but at the same time, they are not adding capacity.
