As the popular saying goes:. I was just tired. Needed a break. It was just wishful thinking! I went to Amazon to pick up a few new self-help books that I can relate. So… This was a practical path that I thought I can agree on and pick myself up from there.

So… I end up spending roughly bucks on new books. Vetting through my new found collection. Three randomly good book sprung at me, as their titles caught my eye, and I deeply relate to the both the book titles and synopsis. Out of Doing-and-Following-Through every step I promised myself, over a short span of 7-days, I can stay I felt a good 5-days of the week.

You will eventually get to a new place! This plan may not work for everyone. But it worked for me. No More Mr. Nice Guy by Dr. Robert A. Nice , but more about concept explanations that you may potentially relate to your own life that may have led to certain outcomes that you are facing now.

More importantly, it is about being Real. And that was what I felt, clicked with me, as I resonated with quite a number of explanations front and back of the book. Nonetheless, I realised that there was quite a bit of repetition in the stories in the front, but as I read towards the end, there were some unique concepts that I did not find in other self-help books, which dwells on some very authentic issues that we may face in realities: Shame.

I guess it is the way the book is written; No overly-fluffy-text, realistic case studies and pointers to problems that were just straight to the point. There were some good pointers from Dr. Robert that made me took straight actions during the roughly 5-good days I took to complete the book. About nearly all the way through of No More Mr. Glover , Book 2 just happened to be on the pile on my table, and the colorful book cover caught my eye, and I just picked it up to read….

The Happiness Equation by Neil Pasricha — This book is really much an easy read on the eyes, especially with a good balance of spacing between the lines and overall pages, and notably the non-cluttered format of the writeup.

The first 3 chapters actually got a strong hold of my attention, where Neil talked about on Understanding Happiness , where the first key lesson dealt with, was:. That simple statement took me aback a little. After reflecting, it was probably the first and greatest lesson learnt. Sounds odd? But it did work for me. Another small step that was emphasised, was to pick up small tasks and to accomplish small goals first.

Bigger goals are important, but they can wait. The Happiness Equation by Neil Pasricha was really a joy to read that I gradually completed it within another 5-days. Fast readers can actually do it in a few hours. Picking-up my old habit was one of the smaller goals, and I was quite eager for my next book. Book 3 , was actually the first book on my order list as the title represented a bold vision of what I can gain from reading it.

Overall, the book was split into very clear topical segments that can be read individually apart from one another. Each of these respective segments gave very easy-to-relate life stories of individuals. From each story, Amy helped to frame realistic scenarios that may apply to the reader, and from them help to rebuild them up by touching the key pointers that will strengthen helpful and supportive solutions in each respective sub-segments.

Though it did took me quite a long while to complete this book, but every single time I picked it up and flipped back to the last read page, it seemed to give me a refreshed perspective on a situation that I was facing at the moment.

The most important aspect is that you have to Take Action. Just Do Stuff. It is when you slowly add-up all your small-wins during your healing process, then you will slowly find yourself in a better place!

The Nice Guy Syndrome

I was proud to make that statement about myself through much of my early adult life. I was a Nice Guy. I wanted to treat people well, and I wanted to be liked.

As the popular saying goes:. I was just tired.

No More Mr. Nice Guy

I did everything I could to make her happy. I tried to solve her problems. I tried to be a good father to her children. I tried to be a better man than the other men in her past. I tried to be the best lover she had ever had. I put her needs ahead of mine. In spite of everything I did for her, it never seemed enough. I could never seem to make her happy. She was frequently moody and would lash out at me, seemingly without provocation. Our sex life sucked.

No More Mr. Nice Guy – Dr. Robert Glover Interview – Part 1

Men who complain that they are unlucky in love despite their 'nice guy' persona may have a sinister agenda. The so-called 'Nice Guy', the often physically unattractive man who overcompensates with clingy and over-the-top behaviour to women, is relentlessly mocked online. Dr Robert Glover , who's studied the issue, says these men are often trying to form "covert contracts" with the target of their affections. In other words, they might use kindness to try and make up for what they lack elsewhere.

3 Books For Depressed Nice Guys

I suffered from the same confusion, not knowing why being nice is so problematic. At the end of the day, I was only being nice. The confusion went away after reading No More Mr. Nice Guy written by the psychotherapist Robert A. After reading the book, I finally understood that there is a healthy form of being nice something we should all do and a very toxic one fawning. What happens in the end is that a nice guy tries to please everyone, but he pleases nobody, not even himself.

I was doing the same old routine of my “Nice Guy” life. I was “Not Entirely Happy” And I don't know why all this is happening to me. I was just tired. Needed a.
